The discussion covered the rapid acceleration of mobile apps and how businesses can use the myriad mobile devices to connect with customers and create efficiencies. Each panelist talked about mobile app projects and the strategies for planning, development and deployment. Each panelist was asked about best practices for ensuring a successful mobile application deployment.
"Testing, testing, testing" was echoed by each panelist. Ross added "... planning and testing are critical, but also be prepared for expansion. Mobile apps, like web-applications, are developed in a phased approach. Be looking for feedback and be prepared to address issues in changing technology and adding functions without changing the entire user interface."
The program also included a presentation from the Greater Lansing Convention and Visitors Bureau (http://www.lansing.org) on its new mobile apps on the iPhone, Android and Blackberry platforms. The North American Travel Journalists Association named the GLCVB's app the number one mobile travel app in the US.
